Digital Hearing Aid Prices
LEVEL I: The most economical digital hearing aids provide
a clearer, crisper sound than their analog predecessors. This level of digital can also limit loud sounds effectively
and is priced comparably to analog programmable aids. Examples include the Resound New Tone Plus, Oticon Go and Go Pro,
and others. Price: $995-$1295 per instrument.
LEVEL II: These instruments are more flexible than their
Level I counterparts with more processing channels and better programmability. More channels result in more precise
amplification for a natural and comfortable sound. Programmability is the ability to change the hearing aid in the office
to suit each individual's lifestyle. Examples include the Resound Plus 5, the Oticon Tego, the Phonak eXtra 100, the
Oticon Delta 4000, the Resound Air, and others. Price: $1495-$1695 per instrument.
LEVEL III: Hearing aids at this most popular level are more
automatic and flexible with many available options. Level III hearing aids usually have many frequency channels, multiple
user programs or settings, and automatic directional microphones. Directional microphones amplify sound only from the
direction the wearer is facing which is helpful in noisy areas such as restaurants. Examples include the Resound Pixel,
the Oticon Tego Pro, the Resound Pulse, the Oticon Delta 6000, and others. Price: $1795-$1995.
LEVEL IV: Level IV hearing aids use the most sophisticated
technology and processing strategies available and are the "flagship" units for each manufacturer. The emphasis at this
level is maximum flexibility in performance with special attention to improving hearing in background noise and other adverse
situations. Many features which are optional on the above levels are standard and most effective on Level IV units.
Examples include the Resound Metrix, the Oticon Syncro 2, the Siemens Centra, the Phonak Savia, the Oticon Delta 8000, and
the Widex Inteo. Price: $2195-$2495 per instrument.
